Just Thinking... << BACK

Hello John Wesley members and friends,

I was thinking about the following scripture, II Timothy 2:8 and 9, especially the part that talks about God’s word is not chained. I know that, and you as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, should also know that. If you know that God’s word isn’t chained, that God’s word sets you free from the cares (the emotional weightiness) of this life, then you should live as persons of faith not bound by human limitations. This doesn’t mean that you don’t hurt or feel disappointments, but you don’t allow your hurts and disappointments to weaken your faith in the omnipotence and sovereignty of God. Because God’s word is unchained, it travels the world impacting individuals, households, groups, and communities. We each have our part to play in disseminating the unchained words and promises of our Lord to those whose minds, bodies, and spirits are in need of peace and hope. We are Christ’s ambassadors and as such we must take seriously the privilege we have of sharing the mighty and unchained word of God with persons who need to hear; for some of us this comes through the words we speak and for others of us, this comes through lives lived, remember the most impactful sermons are those lived not preached.
