Just Thinking... << BACK

December 9, 2017

Hello John Wesley members and friends,

I was thinking about James 2:12-13. These two verses have important truths and insights for our daily walk with Jesus. How we live says more about who we are and what we believe than all our words ever could. It is not our business to judge anyone but at the same time we must live as though we will be judged by the law of God, walking uprightly as best we can. We shouldn't fear this judgment because God's law is tempered with mercy. God demands no less of each of us as we interact with our earthly brothers and sisters. Just as God is merciful to us, God expects us to be merciful to our brothers and sisters in their imperfections. This doesn't mean that we don't hold people accountable for their sinful actions, we should but then we shouldn't continue holding their actions against them forever. Once someone has paid for their misdeeds, remember it no more, don't continue to hold their misdeeds over them. Just as God has been merciful unto us, let us also be merciful to our brothers and sisters. The power of this truism is why we look forward to receiving the Christ-child on Christmas, make sure that you prepare yourself to receive Christ anew during this advent season.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,
