Just Thinking... << BACK

December 24, 2018

Hello John Wesley members and friends,

It is Christmas Eve, and I’m thinking about the very first Christmas recorded in the first 7 verses of Luke chapter 2. I won’t recount the Christmas story here but if you haven’t read it this week, read it again. However, I do want to say it is clear that God loved humanity very much to have allowed Jesus to be born into a world that was, and continues to be, imperfect. God knew that the only way our imperfect world would get close to being right side up again is for a spiritual king to humble himself in the manner described in these verses, imagine a king allowing himself to be in the womb of a woman and then go through the birth canal! Yet, Jesus was willing to endure the human process of being born, and parented by human parents, all while following the will and direction of his Heavenly Father for turning the world right side up again, all for you. So, as you spend time with your family and/or friends tomorrow, please know that Jesus gave you the most important gifts of all, the opportunity for salvation and eternal life.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,

Pastor Woods-Barrant
